Aftershave Healing Spray

Ok, so are there some men feeling left out of the homemade all natural products?  Here is a recipe just for you!  It is made using nourishing ingredients that help soothe the skin after shaving, but can also be used as a refresher throughout the day.

You can make several bottles using a variety of essential oils (or essential oil combinations) for different occasions. For instance, use citrus or peppermint for a morning aftershave that will help wake the senses and get the morning off to a fresh start. Or use a bit of lavender for a pre-bed spray that will help with relaxation and sleep.

INGREDIENTS

2 tbsp distilled water
2 tbsp Witch Hazel (alcohol free)
1/4 tsp Vegetable Glycerin
1/8 tsp Jojoba Oil
13 drops Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil
7 drops Bay West Indies Essential Oil
2-3 drops Vitamin E

DIRECTIONS:

1. Pour ingredients into a clean 4 oz spray bottle.
2. Shake gently, and spritz on face after shaving.

Information about the Ingredients:

Witch Hazelhas soothing properties, making it a perfect ingredient for aftershave. It will reduce puffiness, clean and soothe wounds, stop itching, help refresh skin, and helps seal in moisture.

Vegetable Glycerinis a good moisturizer and can take the place of drying alcohols in many DIY skincare products. Yes, you’ll have a shorter shelf-life, that is why we add the Vitamin E (it’s a great preservative).

Jojoba Oil is an excellent carrier oil.

Essential OilsCedarwood Atlas- provides an earthy, woody, fresh smell. Beyond the smell, Cedarwood Atlas is an antiseptic and astringent. Perfect for a freshly shaven face.

Bay (West Indies) – This scent has been in aftershaves for decades. It just smells…manly, in a good way. It is quite strong, but mixes beautifully with the witch hazel and Cedarwood. This oil is also an astringent and antiseptic.
